1. When I press the talk button on the handset, I get three short beeps, but no dial tone. What could be the problem?
First try relocating the base unit for testing purposes, to ensure that the unit is plugged into a working telephone jack and that the adapter is plugged into a working electrical outlet. Verify that the in-use charge light is lit.

Additionally, there may be interference if the base unit is located near any appliances, or if it is plugged into an outlet with other devices. Try plugging the base unit into an outlet of its own.

If you are still experiencing a problem after these preliminary tests, you should reset the phone. To do this, remove the battery from the handset, and disconnect the adapter and phone line. Leave the unit disconnected for 1 minute. Put the battery back into the handset and then place the handset on the base unit. Reconnect the adapter and phone line. Then test the unit.

3. Why doesn't my phone battery stay charged?
First, verify that the "in use" charge light is appearing. In the event that the charge light does not appear, try cleaning the metal contacts with a cloth and lightly rub them with a pencil eraser.

4. The handset of my new cordless telephone doesn't work. The battery is charged but there's no dial tone. What should I do?

5. Why isn't my answering machine picking up incoming calls?
Make sure that this is the only answering machine on the phone line, and that there is no voice mail set to pick up in fewer rings than the answering machine. Also verify that an outgoing message has been set and that the answer light is on. The recording time should be set to 1 minute or 3 minutes.

6. Why is there static when I'm on my cordless phone?
If this is the only phone that is having the problem, make sure that the unit is not near any appliances and that the adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet independent of any other units. If either of these is the case, then relocate the base unit and test the product.

7. Why is there a fuzzy noise in the background when I'm using the 2.4 GigaRange cordless phone?
First, try changing the location of the base to see if something is interfering with the transmission. If this doesn't help, try the unit in a different neighborhood. If the fuzzy noise is still a problem, your phone may need to be serviced.

8. Can I find out what the remote code is on the answering machine from a remote location?
The preset remote code from the factory is 11. However, if you or someone else changed this to another code after the phone was purchased, there is no way to find out what the new code is.

9. Why do I need to press the talk button repeatedly to get a dial tone?
You will need to have your phone serviced.

10. Why isn't my headset working?
First, make sure that the base unit and handset unit of the phone are functioning correctly without the headset.

If there is no problem with the phone itself, make sure that your headset is compatible with Panasonic phones. If the wrong headset is plugged into the handset, the phone may not function properly.

If you have a compatible headset, make sure that the headset is plugged into the handset correctly.

11. Why does the phone take so long to dial out and emit a stuttering sound when dialing?
Your phone is set to Pulse Mode. To change this, switch the phone to Tone Mode on the base unit.

12. Why doesn't the indicator light come on when the handset is on the base?
You will need to have your phone serviced.

13. How do I display Caller ID on the handset?
Caller ID is only an option on this phone if you can receive the feature from your phone company. If you are paying for Caller ID but it is not working, first remove any other units that have Caller ID or a Caller ID box from the line. If there are no other units with Caller ID, take your phone to another household where you know the Caller ID does work and swap your unit with one of theirs. If it still doesn't work, then it will need to be serviced.

14. How can I check my answering machine messages from another location?
Set the remote code on the unit before you leave the house. When calling the machine from another location, first wait for the outgoing message and then enter the remote code. A voice menu will direct you through the process of retrieving your messages.
